It made us feel loved, appreciated….. or something like that.

You know the saying, better to be talked about than be a boring dance publication nobody pays any attention too huh?

Anyway, to our dismay the members of this group haven’t been protesting much at all. It’s like they clicked a “join” button on Facebook and stopped caring about their outrage. Or it might be the “not very catchy at all” name (it’s called “What The Hell Is Article19 Talking About”).

We feel like starting a support group, on Facebook naturally, to encourage them to protest more, to vent their angst, to sharpen their pitchforks and really get those torches burning.

I’m not wishing the Internet away. It has become so integral to my work — to my life — that I honestly can’t recall what I did without it. But it has allowed us to reflexively indulge every passing interest, to expect answers to every fleeting question, to believe that if we search long enough, surf a little further, we can hit the dry land of knowing “everything that happens” and that such knowledge is both possible and desirable. In the end, though, there is just more sea, and as alluring as we can find the perpetual pursuit of little thoughts, the net result may only be to prevent us from forming the big ones.

While the dance scene has never appeared healthier, it is also one that looks distinctly alpha male. In the UK, choreographers such as Wayne McGregor, Matthew Bourne, Michael Clark and Russell Maliphant dominate our stages and our press. Even though plenty of women are out there – making very personal, very challenging work – few are producing the large-scale box-office hits delivered by their male peers.”

-
Wayne McGregor et al, Alpha Males, seriously? If you want to look at a bunch of people who’ve been making the same crap for the last 15 years then you have your description.

There are plenty of “great” female dance makers but, naturally, it’s a completely unquantifiable term that cannot be proven.

When Obama realised his comment might cause offence to an often prudish American public he pleaded with the journalist to “cut the president some slack”. If nothing else, the exchange reveals a pally relationship with the media that may now be unravelling.”

-
This is a classic example of a journalist leading a story in a patently false direction. The use of the words “pleading” and “pally” builds a picture in the readers mind a picture that simply does not exist.

If you listen to the recording President Obama is not “pleading” with anyone. He is clearly joking around with the reporters.

Furthermore, the idea of journalists repeating information that was stated as being “off the record” is an unforgivable breach of ethics.
